Optical fiber

The fiber is a transmission medium of analog or digital information. The electromagnetic waves traveling in the space to the speed of light.

Basically, the optical fiber is composed of a cylindrical region, which is performed by the propagation, called a core and outside the core area and coaxial therewith, absolutely necessary to produce the spreading mechanism, and called shell or coating.

Most of the optical fibers are made from silica sand or, abundant feedstock compared to copper. glass with some kilograms can be made approximately 43 kilometers of optical fiber. The two essential constituents of the optical fibers are the core and cladding. The core is the innermost part of the fiber and the light guiding.
